Multidisciplinary Residency and Exhibition
What does makes a home? And what happens to our relationship to home when we can no longer access the significant places of our lives?
In this challenging and deeply personal exhibition, Anna interrogates her relationship to places that have defined her identity, and asks what happens when our relation to these places shift. Part residency and part showcase, Portraits of Home takes a deep look into the ways that we shape place, and the ways places shape us.
Anna will be in residence in the location for a week prior to the exhibition opening, creating site-specific responses to the unique environment of Safehouse 1, and exploring the idea of the venue as a 'meanwhile' home in contrast to the vaulted 'forever' home. These responses, accompanied by a new body of works that consider themes of home, safety and landscape, will come together for a week-long showcase including a series of private 'house tours', workshops and a public opening.
